Celebrating the history of the Commonwealth
Penna Shirt Co. was founded with the intention of remembering and celebrating things big and small that make our state great. The history of Pennsylvania is rife with cultural significance — the groundbreaking Pennsylvania Railroad, the turning point of the Civil War enacted in Gettysburg, the Liberty Bell signifying our independence — but we have some pretty cool local treasures, too, like Gravity Hill, the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, and the abandoned Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Hand-illustrated designs
Started as a labor of love by graphic designer Michael Keesee in 2018, Penna Shirt Co. features designs created from scratch right here in Pennsylvania. Every illustration and (almost) every letterform you see on this site has been uniquely crafted by hand for that particular design. Inspired by sign painting and advertising from the ’50s and ’60s, Michael noticed a certain delightful, care-free nature in designs of days gone by that is seldom seen in our current world, and sought to bring that out in a spirit of pride for our Commonwealth.
Propping up businesses in our community
Supporting our local communities and economy is important to us, and part of our goal as a business is to foster more engagement within communities in Pennsylvania. Especially in our current economic climate, it is vital that we help to rebuild our communities from the inside out, allowing us to be more stable, sustainable, and supportive in the long-term.
If you’re part of a treasured, time-honored business in Pennsylvania, reach out to us! We’d love to collaborate on a t-shirt design with you.
